My name is Dilyara, and I lost my sight

In 2012, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Gradually, I lost my sight, and the world I was used to began to disappear. Work, communication, the familiar daily rush — everything felt like it belonged to the past. There was a time when I didn’t know how to keep going. Thanks to the support of my loved ones and the training I received from the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan, I regained control over my life: I practice yoga again, I’m learning Italian, and I run a Telegram channel for people with visual impairments, sharing what once helped me through it all. I realized the most important thing: accepting an illness doesn’t mean giving up. Sometimes, it means seeing even more in life — the strength of love and care.

My name is Andrey. Skills helped me save a life

Every morning, I used to ask myself: “How can I be useful to the world today?” I wanted to do something good, and that path led me to the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan, where I completed first aid training. In September 2019, I was among the first to arrive at the scene of a collision between a bus and a train near the village of Boraldai. One of the victims was a girl showing no signs of life. Using the skills I had learned, I performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until she began breathing again. I immobilised another girl’s fractured arm and helped her reach the hospital. That day, I understood that first aid skills can save a life. Join us — together, we can make the world a little kinder.

My name is Serikbay. I am 68

I worked as an electrician throughout my life. After a stroke, I was assigned a Category II disability, but I still find joy in simple things. I especially enjoy playing the dombra and bayan — music has always helped me maintain my strength and good spirits. I often think of my wife, with whom I shared a long and happy life. I am grateful to the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan for its care and attention. Such acts of kindness remind me that even modest food assistance can give a person peace of mind and the feeling that they are not alone.
